Day 7 - grilled asparagus

Here's another quick and easy party food that can be done in no time... grilled fresh asparagus!! This is so much nicer than the tinned asparagus (if you have ever had it) is full of good nutrients and....needless to say fibre! (but we won't worry about that for now)


1-2 bunches of asparagus

olive oil/rice bran oil


How to....

  • wash asparagus then cut of about 1-2cm of end...removing what looks to be more 'woody'

  • peel the cut ends of the asparagus, about 5cm...this will help to remove more of the stringy, harder to chew fibre.

  • heat up bbq, grill pan, or frying pan with some rice bran oil (which is better for higher cooking temperatures, compared to olive oil and most other oils) then place asparagus, turining once it starts brown up, or get grill marks.

  • remove from heat once it softens, place on a plate, drizzle with a little extra olive oil and lemon juice...

  • All done!! ready to serve...they taste just a good even when cooled down.
